Dominance-Based Rough Set Approach to Case-Based Reasoning

چکیده
Case-based reasoning is a paradigm inmachine learningwhose idea is that a new problem can be solved by noticing its similarity to a set of problems previously solved. We propose a new approach to case-based reasoning. It is based on rough set theory that is amathematical theory for reasoning about data. More precisely, we adopt Dominance-based Rough Set Approach (DRSA) that is particularly appropriate in this context for its ability of handling monotonicity relationship between ordinal properties of data related to monotonic relationships between attribute values in the considered data set. In general terms, monotonicity concerns relationship between different aspects of a phenomenon described by data: for example, “the larger the house, the higher its price” or “the closer the house to the city centre, the higher its price”. In the perspective of case-based reasoning, we propose to consider monotonicity of the type “the more similar is y to x, the more credible is that y belongs to the same set as x”.We show that rough approximations and decision rules induced from these approximations can be redefined in this context and that they satisfy the same fundamental properties of classical rough set theory.

Variable-precision dominance-based rough set approach and attribute reduction
In this paper, a variable-precision dominance-based rough set approach (VP-DRSA) is proposed together with several VP-DRSA-based approaches to attribute reduction. The properties of VP-DRSA are shown in comparison to previous dominance-based rough set approaches. An advantage of VP-DRSA over variable-consistency dominance-based rough set approach in decision rule induction is emphasized. Some r...

Dominance-based Rough Set Approach (DRSA) was introduced as a generalization of the rough set approach for reasoning about preferences. While data describing preferences are ordinal by the nature of decision problems they concern, the ordering of data is also important in many other problems of data analysis. Even when the ordering seems irrelevant, the presence or the absence of a property (po...
متن کاملLimited Dominance-based Rough Set Model and Knowledge Reductions in Incomplete Decision System
In this paper, we introduce a new rough set approach, which is called the limited dominance-based rough set model into the incomplete decision system. The limited dominance relation is different from the traditional dominance relation in the incomplete environment because we are on the assumption that the unknown value can only be compared with the maximal or minimal value in the domain of the ...
متن کاملFuzzy Set Extensions of the Dominance-Based Rough Set Approach
Rough set theory has been proposed by Pawlak in the early 80s to deal with inconsistency problems following from information granulation. It operates on an information table composed of a set U of objects described by a set Q of condition and decision attributes. Decision attributes make a partition of U into decision classes. Basic concepts of rough set theory are: indiscernibility relation on...
متن کاملA multi-attribute auction model by dominance based rough sets approach
As an alternative to the price-based traditional auction model, the multi-attribute auction model is an integrated model requiring the simultaneous trade of different types of attributes as the sellers and buyers deal. As a result, the design and modeling of the auction mechanism have become very difficult. This paper proposes a multiattribute auction model using the dominance-based rough sets ...
